CIMC Built Nearly 3,600 Transitional Housing Units for Hong Kong, Expected to Benefit More Than 10,000 Families
On 10 August, CIMC Modular Building Investment Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC Modular Building"), a subsidiary of CIMC Construction Technology of CIMC, held a module installation ceremony at the site of transitional housing project at Lok Wo Sha Lane, Ma On Shan, Hong Kong.
This is the sixth transitional housing project built by CIMC Modular Building for Hong Kong. Up to now, the company has built nearly 3,600 transitional housing units for Hong Kong in two years, which are expected to benefit more than 10,000 families.
Funded by the HKSAR Government, the project at Lok Wo Sha Lane, Ma On Shan, is the first transitional housing project in Sha Tin District, Hong Kong. The 4-storey project consists of 436 units of transitional housing. The design and planning of the project with open kitchens, separate bathrooms and dining rooms, focuses on environmental protection and meets the needs of grass-roots families.
The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, will provide transitional housing for about 1,200 grassroots citizens in Hong Kong who have been waiting for public rental housing for a long period of time or are living in less favourable conditions.
It is reported that the Lok Wo Sha Lane project is another transitional housing project built by CIMC Modular Building for Hong Kong following the projects of United Court, Yip Shing Street, Tsing Lung Tau and Muk On Street.
In just two years, CIMC Modular Building has built six transitional housing projects for Hong Kong, with a total floor area of more than 70,000 sqm, more than 4,000 modules and nearly 3,600 transitional housing units, which are expected to benefit more than 10,000 families and over 15,000 grassroots citizens by providing them with a comfortable place to live.
The construction system of CIMC Modular Building is a permanent building system that combines structural, mechanical and electrical, decoration and intelligent systems. More than 90% of the building modules can be prefabricated and decorated on the factory assembly line. After being transported to the project site by sea and land transportation, modules can be quickly lifted and erected, and the buildings can be ready to move in immediately.
