CIMC was Included in the Hang Seng Stock Connect Hydrogen Energy Index


With the concept of sustainable investment becoming a global consensus, ESG Index and Index-based investment have entered a booming stage. On 20 February, Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited launched the Hang Seng Shanghai-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect Hydrogen Energy Index, and CIMC (000039.SZ) was included in the Index as a company among the first group of 20 constituent companies with the highest weighting; meanwhile, CIMC Enric (3899.HK), a listed subsidiary of CIMC Group, was also included in the Index as the other constituent.

Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited compiles and manages the Hang Seng Family of Indexes, which mainly covers stocks listed in Hong Kong and Mainland China, including the Hang Seng Index, Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, Hang Seng TECH Index, as well as the Stock Connect, Greater Bay Area, Sustainable Development and various industry indexes.

Being considered as an ultimate clean energy source with zero carbon emissions, hydrogen plays a pivotal role in the energy transition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and it has gained more tractions in recent years as such clean energy can be a low carbon solution to limit global warming and achieve carbon neutrality in the long run. To achieve this goal, the Chinese government and its global counterparts have put forward different policies and strategies to support the development of hydrogen economy. The launch of the Hang Seng Stock Connect Hydrogen Energy Index reflects capital market’s growing interest and demand for investment in sustainable development, especially hydrogen energy, and also facilitates more investors who are focusing on carbon reduction and seeking opportunities in the low-carbon transition.

The inclusion of CIMC Group in the Hang Seng Stock Connect Hydrogen Energy Index as a company among the first group of weighted stocks (with a weighting of 2.98%, ranking 14/20) is not only an affirmation of CIMC Group's achievements in the field of hydrogen energy and low-carbon transition, but also a reflection of the capital market's recognition of CIMC Group's ESG sustainable investment.
