Sumitomo President’s Visit to CIMC Further Boosted Cooperation

On December 2, Sumitomo president Kuniharu Nakamura paid a visit to CIMC, who was received by Mai Boliang, CIMC CEO and president of CIMC, Huang Tianhua, president assistant of CIMC, Liu Bin, general manager of CIMC Purchasing & Sharing Center, Tao Kuan, general manager of CIMC Strategic Development Department, Zheng Zuhua, director of Airport Segment Executive Committee, Ye Jianfeng, general manager assistant of CIMC Vehicles Group. Since the strategic cooperation agreement was signed this year, CIMC and Sumitomo have actively engaged in exchange and cooperation, jointly promoted project implementation and made significant progress in some projects. Sumitomo president’s visit aims to enhance mutual understanding and build strong ties.

On April 7, CIMC and Sumitomo Corporation entered into the strategic cooperation agreement. So far, both sides have worked together in 20 projects involving vehicles, ENRIC, airport, finance and other businesses. The strong partnership has led to significant progress made in Vehicles Group’s sales channel and market, raw material lightweight technology cooperation, airport stereo garage, high value-added materials & parts supply project. In addition, both sides are also working together on refrigerator truck development, CIMC cross-border e-commerce, IOT, finance lease, natural gas fuelled power generation, modular construction, etc.

Sumitomo president Kuniharu Nakamura said, “CIMC is more than a container manufacturer, but it grows into a diversified transnational corporation. I am quite impressed by CIMC’s great manufacturing prowess and much experience in market development. Sumitomo engages in many fields, so we can broaden our cooperation. We hope to further deepen cooperation and accelerate the process.” Besides, Kuniharu Nakamura also showed strong interest in modular construction and expressed the intent of cooperation in the future.

Mai Boliang, CIMC CEO and president, said, “CIMC and Sumitomo are strongly complementary, which is why both sides have been committed to close cooperation and exchanges in the last two decades. Both CIMC and Sumitomo are the leader in their own fields, so they have great influence in their fields. With open market, capital exchange and cooperation, both sides will embrace broader and deeper cooperation. ”

Both sides reached the consensus at the meeting that CIMC and Sumitomo have a good foundation and broad prospect for cooperation. They will establish regular communication mechanism to review cooperation projects, and build sound cooperation mechanism to explore more projects.
