The Hong Kong SAR Government wishes to build more quarantine centers as soon as possible to cope with the severe epidemic trend. Apart from using existing government premises as quarantine centers, the Architectural Services Department of Hong Kong is building new mandatory quarantine facilities, one of which is located at Pak Heung. As one of the first companies granted the Hong Kong MiC (modular integrated construction) approval, CIMC Modular Building Systems (CIMC Modular for short) has undertaken the construction of the temporary quarantine facilities at Pak Heung.

Due to the design innovation of steel structures and process optimization, CIMC Modular has increased its production capacity from 20 to 70 modules per day, delivering an average of 48 modules each day, equivalent to 1 module every 12 minutes. 901 modules were built within 2 months, 9 days ahead of schedule. On September 3, CIMC Modular started the steel structure construction and refurbishing in strict accordance with epidemic prevention measures. On September 29, the first batch of module houses was shipped to Hong Kong and entered the site after hoisting. On November 3, all modules were delivered to Hong Kong.

All the modules for Pak Heung 3A quarantine center project have been built and shipped to Hong Kong up to now. These modules are currently installed on the site, and upon the completion of their installation, they will be put into use.

Modules relying on CIMC's modular construction technology not only serve Hong Kong people in fighting against the pandemic and other fields, but also provide the country and the rest of the world with a new model for fighting the epidemic.

The person in charge of the project noted that CIMC and CIMC Modular have always kept in mind their social responsibility, adding that they would assume the mission of “creating sustainable value for society” during the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic and link themselves closely to the needs of the local community, the times and the public.
