An Entire Boutique Hotel, Packed and Shipped to Saudi Arabia! CIMC's First Modular Hotel Project in the Middle East Officially Ships Out

Riyadh, a city sweltering in year-round 50°C heat, faces a growing shortage of hotel supply as its cultural tourism sector booms. Traditional construction takes two to three years, and on-site outdoor work drops sharply in efficiency due to the extreme heat. Now CIMC is delivering a game-changing solution: fully prefabricating the entire hotel, shipping it overseas, and assembling it quickly on arrival in Saudi Arabia — transforming local hotel construction practices.

Recently, the Earth Hotel Riyadh project, developed and built by CIMC Modular Building, officially shipped out from CIMC's Jiangmen Smart Manufacturing Base. The 104 building modules will voyage thousands of kilometers across the ocean to Saudi Arabia, where they will be quickly assembled into a full boutique hotel. As CIMC's first modular hotel project in the Middle East, it is slated to open in early 2027.

Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, the project has a gross floor area of approximately 11,000 square meters and 99 planned guest rooms, with opening slated for early 2027. Unlike conventional construction, most of the hotel's work — including the main structure, MEP systems, interior finishes, and furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) — has been completed upfront in Chinese factories. Once the modules arrive in Saudi Arabia, crews only need to perform quick on-site installation and hookups, dramatically cutting the construction schedule and minimizing the environmental footprint of on-site work on the local community.

Against a backdrop of Saudi Arabia's booming tourism sector and rising demand for hotels and urban ancillary infrastructure, efficient, high-quality and sustainable construction approaches are gaining increasing traction. The project is expected to slash overall construction timelines by over 50%, while reducing on-site construction activity and construction waste, delivering a more predictable, controlled project delivery model for hotel investors.
