CIMC Enric Delivers China's Largest-Capacity Double-Walled Vacuum-Insulated Spherical Tank
Recently, CIMC Sanctum, a subsidiary of CIMC Enric, delivered an 800 m³ double-walled vacuum-insulated cryogenic liquid nitrogen spherical tank (hereafter the "LN2 spherical tank") to Hainan International Commercial Aerospace Launch Co., Ltd. As the largest-capacity double-walled vacuum-insulated spherical tank ever completed and delivered for operation in China to date, the LN2 tank demonstrates CIMC's industry-leading technical expertise in large cryogenic vacuum-insulated storage tanks.
The project officially launched in October 2025 and concluded with full testing, commissioning and handover for operation in July 2026, for a total lead time of just nine months.

This is a double-walled vacuum-insulated cryogenic liquid spherical tank. Prior to this project, no national or industry standards in China were directly applicable to this type of equipment. During product R&D and manufacturing, the company's independently developed enterprise standard received formal conformity confirmation from the Special Equipment Licensing Office (SELO) of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), and was formally adopted as the basis for the project's design and fabrication. The Hainan Provincial Institute of Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Special Equipment Inspection conducted end-to-end supervision and inspection of the tank's design documentation, manufacturing process and testing per this enterprise standard, ensuring the product's safety and regulatory compliance.
This groundbreaking standard development, built entirely from scratch, not only ensured the smooth implementation of the project, but also provides a key reference for the design and fabrication of similar products in the future.
Prior to delivery, CIMC Sanctum specially commissioned the China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute (CSEI) — a SAMR-accredited special equipment type testing body with CNAS certification — to conduct cryogenic type testing on the tank. The test was successfully completed in early July 2026, with all performance metrics exceeding standard thresholds, earning strong recognition from the client.
