On January 5, CIMC Modular Building Systems, a subsidiary of CIMC Group, officially shipped out the components for Central Africa’s first-ever modular building - the Office Building Project in Bastos District, Yaoundé, Cameroon, which signals the critical transition to on-site assembly for the company’s inaugural overseas modular office project.

It is understood that the Office Building Project in Bastos District, Yaoundé, Cameroon is located in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon. Spanning approximately 3,000 square meters, the permanent structure comprises 78 highly engineered modules prefabricated in China, and is expected to open its doors in the second half of 2026. The construction timeline is slashed by more than 50% compared to conventional building methods, and the facility is designed to accommodate nearly 200 people for office, meeting, and dining purposes.

The project comes at a time of robust growth along the Central African economic corridor. As Cameroon’s urban development accelerates, and its economic structure continues to optimize, driven by a rapid influx of finance, technology, and trade, local demand for modern commercial and residential real estate has surged. Existing infrastructure is struggling to keep pace, while traditional construction models frequently fall short in speed, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

Seeking to plug this gap, CIMC Modular Building Systems is blending "international quality" with "local care." This project is benchmarked against the standards of global corporate headquarters while remaining finely tuned to local customs and practical needs. Through rapid modular construction, the company aims to deliver flexible, sustainable, and adaptable workspaces tailored to Cameroon and the broader African continent.

Between 2018 and 2021, CIMC Modular Building Systems successfully delivered two modular hotels in Djibouti, establishing a reputation for reliability in East Africa. Now, with Africa’s urban population swelling by more than 10 million annually, the demand for premium buildings is immense. Transitioning from an exploratory phase to aggressive expansion, the company is demonstrating a firm commitment to capturing these emerging market opportunities.
