CIMC Ships Building Modules for a Landmark Hotel in Silicon Valley

Publisher:CIMC

On the morning of September 30, CIMC Modular Building System (CIMC MBS, a subsidiary of CIMC Building Technology Co., Ltd.) held a module shipment ceremony for the citizenM Menlo Park Hotel project, and CIMC MBS is one of the participants of the project. The ceremony was attended by the management, project team, client representatives and representatives from subcontractors of CIMC MBS.
Located within the Facebook Headquarters campus in Silicon Valley, the citizenM Menlo Park Hotel project is designed to be a 5-storey hotel consisting of 161 modules with 240 rooms. Once completed, the hotel will be a landmark hotel in Silicon Valley.

The citizenM Hotel is a well-known international stylish chain hotel that has operated its chain hotels in first-tier metropolitan cities around the world, including New York, London, Paris, Los Angeles, Seattle and Shanghai to date. Previously, citizenM Los Angeles Downtown hotel, the first project between citizenM Hotel and CIMC MBS, was quickly completed and is already in commercial operation. In the course of the cooperation, CIMC’s modular building product quality and rapid delivery capability as well as service quality, were highly recognized by the owner, which led to the cooperation between citizenM Hotel and CIMC MBS in relation to the citizenM Menlo Park Hotel project.

After being awarded the project, the CIMC MBS team actively cooperated with the client in terms of scheme design adjustments and detailed design of drawings, and commenced the mass decoration in early May this year. As construction and shipment of all modules were completed in less than 5 months, the project duration was significantly shortened compared with the DTLA project, and the quality of the products has once again reached a new level.

It is worth noting that the hotel project is located in California, while the Golden State is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire and the San Andreas Fault, with a high frequency of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, which, combined with the high population density and economic development of the region, has led to a stringent building code system that is renowned in North America as a result of the extreme demands placed on building safety by local clients and government.

During the course of the project, the CIMC MBS team experienced severe challenges in various aspects such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the global supply chain crisis. For this reason, the team was fully prepared for all aspects of the project, from design, material procurement and manufacturing to transportation and on-site lifting. Frequent weekly design communication meetings and regular acceptance in factories demonstrate the efforts of the team members to create high-quality rooms for the hotel.
