The First Hospice Ward in the Children’s Hospital in South China Donated by CIMC was Opened in Shenzhen

On June 7, the children’s hospice ward set up by Shenzhen Children’s Hospital for the Department of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) was put into use. The hospice ward, constructed with funds from CIMC Group is also the first children’s hospice ward in a children’s hospital in South China. Meanwhile, the multidisciplinary collaboration team for hospice care in the hospital was formally established.

Yang Shulin, director of the Aging Division of Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, Liang Zhen, vice president of Shenzhen People’s Hospital, Gao Xiang, president of CIMC Group, Ma Xiaopeng, president and Zeng Hongwu, vice president of Shenzhen Children’s Hospital, and other leaders and guests attended the unveiling ceremony and visited the children’s hospice ward.

It is said that the original intention of building a warm cottage as a hospice ward in PICU is to let the family members of dying children spend more time with their children at the last moment, keep more memories and have fewer regrets. The collaboration team will cooperate with doctors, nurses, medical social workers, pharmacists, dietitians and other professional forces to provide services such as palliative care and bereavement support, so that the dying children can pass away comfortably, peacefully and with dignity. The hospice ward, named “Star Terminal”, is one of the important charity projects donated by CIMC Group to Shenzhen Children’s Hospital through Shenzhen Charity Federation. It is also the first children’s hospice ward in a children’s hospital in South China.
